Along with the ever changing seas surging through the
rocks combined with the gusting winds “Barking Rocks lighthouse” got its
name by the strange noises it could sometimes emit, the haunting sounds of
dogs sometimes whimpering, occasionally howling but often barking!. . .
...Then there were the nights, the special nights when the
sea was right and the wind was right and the rocks would “bark.” They
would party long into the early hours celebrating its mysterious sounds
but as this happened most nights and the “barking” was so loud there
probably wasn’t really any point in trying to sleep anyway. They could
save that for the sunny days ahead.
